The IQAC SUM College of Teacher Education in Kozhikode celebrated Onam 2024 with great enthusiasm under the theme “Thrillonam.” The festivities included a variety of cultural programs, traditional Onam games, and the creation of vibrant pookkalams (floral carpets).
Pookkalam Competition: The college campus was adorned with beautifully crafted pookkalams, showcasing the creativity and artistic skills of the students and staff. The competition was judged based on factors such as design, color, and overall aesthetic appeal.
Onam Sadya: A traditional Onam sadya (feast) was organized, featuring a sumptuous spread of Kerala delicacies. The students and staff enjoyed a communal meal, strengthening bonds and celebrating the spirit of Onam.
Cultural Programs: The cultural programs showcased the rich heritage of Kerala. Students performed various traditional dances, songs, and plays, captivating the audience with their talent and passion.
Games and Competitions: A variety of Onam-themed games and competitions were conducted, including tug-of-war, kayamkulam boat race, and musical chairs. These activities promoted teamwork, sportsmanship, and a festive atmosphere.
Participation: The Onam celebrations were a resounding success, with enthusiastic participation from all students and staff members. The event fostered a sense of unity, camaraderie, and cultural appreciation within the college community.
